NorZet reaching 30 installed units.




We are delighted to announce that we have sold 30 units and wanted to thank everyone involved in making this happen! We have also identified that a lot of E-3120 owners are at a point that it is diffucult to decide which way to go: upgrade existing machine or exchange entirely. Below we have prepared a brief summary of most common issues that came up during our conversations with you, our customers:


Maximising Wind Asset Performance: Aerodynamics and ROI Over Hype

When evaluating options for overhauling E-Series wind turbines, it is easy to be swayed by claims that simply do not hold up against real-world economics or the laws of physics.

 

The Reality of Yield Loss: E-3120 vs. BestWatt

Many owners are currently considering full E-Series replacements, such as those offered by BestWatt. Their primary selling point relies on using blades that are 2 metres shorter than a standard Endurance E-3120 setup, while claiming to generate almost the same amount of energy.

From a practical engineering standpoint, this claim falls flat. A wind turbine's ability to capture energy is strictly dictated by its swept area - the actual physical area the blades cover during rotation. Since most modern blades are relatively equal in efficiency, a smaller swept area guarantees less captured energy.

 

Here is how the numbers stack up:

 

  • Swept Area: The BestWatt has a swept area of 196 square metres, whereas the standard E-3120 covers 290 square metres.
  • Energy Capture Potential: Because of that larger physical footprint, the E-3120 has the potential to capture 48% more energy from the wind.
  • Real-World Yield: The only way a smaller rotor can partially compensate for this lost area is by spinning faster at a higher nominal output, which only makes a real difference on highly exposed sites (average wind speeds of above 8 m/s). On a typical site averaging 6 m/s, the E-3120 setup will outperform the BestWatt by nearly 40% in overall yield.

 

At NorZet, we refuse to compromise turbine performance. Our blades maintain the full, original diameter required to naturally capture the maximum amount of wind and energy. We deliver a reliable, high-yield solution without the massive capital expense of ripping out and replacing the entire system.

 

Addressing the Rumours: Do NorZet Rotors Run 'Too Hot'?

Recently, competitors have circulated claims that NorZet blades overload the system and cause generators to run at elevated temperatures. This is a scare tactic that ignores the basic principles of commercial yield optimisation.

 

Here is the practical reality of how our systems operate:

 

  • Adjustable Pitch: NorZet blades are adjustable in pitch angle. If a generator is running warmer than the owner or service operator is comfortable with, a technician can adjust the blade pitch in a matter of hours to reduce the maximum power output. This lowers the thermal load on the generator - but naturally, it also reduces the generation revenue. It is a simple, controllable trade-off.
  • Maximising Billable Output: We engineer our setups to convert as much wind as possible into billable kilowatt-hours by running the generator at its full operational capacity.
  • The Commercial Reality: Looking at the project financials, the increased revenue from running at maximum capacity is substantial. Many owners conclude that the extra profit generated by a high-output, "hotter" system easily outpaces a restricted, "cooler" system - even if it means absorbing the cost of a planned generator replacement down the line.

 

Ultimately, a wind turbine is a commercial investment. Keeping internal components pristine by chronically underperforming does not pay the bills; maximising the power output does. NorZet blades offer a proven alternative that includes blade tip brakes to reduce mechanical drivetrain loads, while ensuring the wind turbine delivers a solid financial return. This is demostrated by our test turbine generating 88,869 kWh in average wind speed of 5.5 m/s in period 01.01.2026-01.07.2026. Projections are that this machine will exceed our estimates of 152.000kWh in 5.5 m/s average wind by  25,000kWh in 2026!

High-Performance Wind Sensor Upgrade for E-3120 Turbines

 

Many E-3120 wind turbine owners have found that the currently installed Young mechanical anemometers and wind vanes lack the expected and required longevity. With a typical service life of only three years before bearing failure or complete replacement is necessary, these sensors create a recurring financial and maintenance burden for the owner.

Beyond 2025 – Celebrating our wins to fuel new initiatives

 

While global stability remained under pressure in 2025, and 2026 promises its own set of challenges, it is vital to pause and recognize the milestones we’ve achieved. At NorZet, these successes serve as the foundation for our upcoming projects.

 

Reflecting on 2025, we are proud of several key achievements:

 

  1. Operational Success: We now have 17 of our retrofit rotors operating on E-3120 wind turbines across the UK. These units are delivering excellent power generation with high stability and safety. With 3 more rotors already booked for 2026, the positive feedback from owners and service partners continues to be our greatest motivator.

  2. Expanded Product Line: In collaboration with renowned European suppliers, we added several new components to our portfolio this past year. We have already delivered our first wind sensors, yaw bearings, gearbox, and generator — with more details to follow soon.

  3. Development initiatives: We are currently preparing several development projects for prototype roll-out in 2026. Our goal remains clear: supporting E-3120 owners in securing stable income and avoiding unexpected service costs as they approach and move beyond the end of FIT tariffs.

NorZet Prototype Rotor Performance Experience


Two years have passed since the installation of our NorZet prototype rotor system, designed to replace the Endurance Wind Power E-3120 rotor.

To summarize the experiences, we have created a case study document looking at energy performance and operation results, to provide a picture of what benefits our system brings. In the analysis, we compare the energy generation between the new rotor and the old E-3120 rotor in a worn condition. We also compare to the WES 80 and the BestWatt 80 wind turbines, to provide a broader comparative perspective on turbines in this size class, where the E-3120 turbine stands out as a very well performing turbine.

What is more, we are pleased to announce that Earthmill Maintenance successfully completed installation of our NorZet rotor on a E-3120 with 36m tower near Insch, Scotland. Preliminary production data from this installation are highly encouraging, and we anticipate gathering complete generation data in the near future.

E-3120 Owners: Evaluating Rotor Performance for Potential Improvement


NorZet Ltd has been developing its New Rotor System since 2021, launching it commercially in early 2024. As of January 2025, six rotors have been installed on individual and paired turbine sites. The most recent installation was completed by Earthmill Maintenance Ltd.

NorZet's ongoing post-installation support includes performance analysis of both newly installed rotors and those under consideration for upgrade. Recent analyses have yielded significant findings:

The analysis revealed underperformance in several turbines operating with the older rotor system, evident in their power curves. This underperformance was observed even in rotors refurbished within the past 1-3 years, with documented power losses ranging from 5% to 30%, directly impacting revenue for owners. (See example chart below for illustration.)

Based on these findings, NorZet recommends that E-3120 owners re-evaluate their current power curves. NorZet offers a complimentary WindSync guide to assist owners in conducting this analysis accurately.

NorZet New Rotor System for the E-3120 Demonstrates Performance and Reliability


NorZet is pleased to announce the successful operation of its New Rotor System prototype for over 20 months. Additionally, as of November 2024, five new rotors have been installed and generating consistent and reliable energy output, meeting expected power curve targets.

As part of ongoing post-installation support, NorZet conducts pitch setting tests to optimize performance with good results:

Based on preliminary data from twin-site comparisons, the new NorZet rotors appear to be performing slightly better than both flat- and circular-root blades in good condition. It's important to note that the new system eliminates the passive pitch holder system, a potential source of wear, power degradation and downtime. Further studies will be conducted in the coming months to confirm these observations.
